2017 CHS ELA Reading Assignments and Information

posted Jun 30, 2017, 8:31 AM by John Lowe   [ updated Jun 30, 2017, 8:32 AM ]

The students at CHS who are enrolled in Honors, Honors Advanced English, or AP Language (Eng III) classes for the 2017-2018 school year should purchase and read the following titles by the beginning of the fall semester

Book prices and purchase locations (links to stores) can be found here or in the attached document.

9th Honors:  Anthem by: Ayn Rand

(Due to the complexity of this novel here is a link to a reading guide for your use )

9th Honors Advanced:  The Outsiders  by: S E Hinton

10th Honors and Honors Advanced:  Looking for Alaska  by: John Green

11th Honors:  Uprising by:  Margaret Peterson Haddix

12th Honors:  1984 by: George Orwell

There are no assignments to complete over the summer; simply read the novel in its entirety before the first day of school. These novels will be the focus of each class for the first 3 weeks of the semester which could mean a test on the first day of school OR a culminating project that will be due at the end of the 3 week period. Be prepared for any type of assignment or due date.
